Aki Kaurismäki’s world |
|
|||||||
|
About Kaurismäki: Born 1958, autodidact, he had 1976 the idea of
making movies. About his
work: Kaurismäki’s movies have nothing to do with
super productions à la Hollywood. His movies are
almost minimalists. The scenery is not for fun, it’s
part of the character’s life. Those characters have to face a cruel destiny
in a “low life”, fairly hostile world. Sometimes the outcome is dramatic and
nothing can stop it Though from time to time a hopefull
light appears, making possible the resurrection of the knock down human being
who courageously finds in himself the strongness to
start a new life. In short Kaurismäki’s movies are
all about human feelings, about the burden of a hard life, about how to deal
with it and finnally about the meaning of life.
