Up to the early 90s Finland was a so called block free (neutral) country. Though it has at that time a great deal of Russian made equipment.

 

Since 1995 Finland is part of the EU but the country remains alliance free and neutral. Thus it is bound to assure and organize its own defense, mainly along the 1300 border to Russia.

 

Finland moved to adopt NATO standard and is now equipped with home made, EU or US kit.

 

Though a small Army, the Finns took and take part in the following UN missions:
